The Mendiola Bridge was a battleground for students wanting to go to Malacanang Palace. I remembered when I was in Elementary, coming out of school, I would see people demonstrating against Marcos right outside the school. This was before Martial Law days.
The first thing we saw were the barbed wire fences blocking the Palace - a clear sign of insecurity. The day before, some 200 students managed to get through the presidential security and hold their rally at the gates. As expected, they were abused by the presidential guards.
Anyway, back to more pleasant stuff.
We arrived at the monastery and looked around at the chapel. I took pictures. When Fr. Rafaelito came, he toured us around the monastery. We had lunch. What was interesting was their prayer during meals. It started with, "Taste and see the goodness of the Lord". This got me to think - at this monastery, even eating is a way of experiencing the Lord.
After lunch, we went to watch the basketball game - courtesy of Fr. Rafaelito. My brother and his sons also joined us. It was a time for the Yuson boys to be together.
This being Ninoy Aquino Day, San Beda cheerleaders wore yellow ribbons before they introduced the team.
San Beda was sloppy because of the 15 day hiatus. But they managed to win. It was an exercise for the ear drums. But the experience was very good. After the game, we went to Masuki in Greenhill. Then we went home.

Later that night, I received a call from my best friend in HS. We went out for coffee that night. We chatted. It was good to catch up with an old friend. I am so happy to see him prosperous and in the Lord.
All in all, another nice day the Lord has made!
